Beverly Hills, CA – February 25 – The Israeli-American Civic Action Network (ICAN) is pleased to announce its support of several candidates running for Beverly Hills City Council in the 2024 municipal election. After carefully reviewing candidate questionnaires, ICAN has determined that these candidates align with the organization’s values and priorities regarding Jewish communities and Israel.
The candidates are:
Craig Corman: Attorney and three-term Planning Commissioner, BHHS alumnus, and Rotary Club member.
Myra Demeter: Served two terms on the BHUSD Board of Education, served seven years on the Health and Safety Commission, and is currently serving her second term on the Planning Commission.
Nooshin Meshkaty: NASA engineer, former President of the BHUSD Board of Education, and former Traffic and Parking Commissioner.
Sharon Persovski: Building designer, nonprofit leader, and former chair of the Architectural Commission.
Mary Wells: Current BHUSD Board of Education member and immediate past President of the board with experience in brand management, account management, and municipal bond trading.
ICAN believes that these candidates demonstrate a strong commitment to fostering a positive relationship between the City of Beverly Hills and our diverse Jewish communities, as well as a supportive stance towards Israel. We strongly encourage voters in Beverly Hills to consider these candidates when casting their votes.
The municipal election in Beverly Hills for 2024 is scheduled for March 5. Two seats on the City Council are up for election, currently held by Mayor Julian A. Gold, M.D., and Councilmember Lili Bosse.
All registered voters in Beverly Hills should have received a vote-by-mail ballot during the first week of February. They may vote in person at a vote center, mail their ballots, or drop them off at a VBM Drop Box. Vote centers will begin operating 10 days before the election and will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.
